Greece is the largest producer of sea bass and sea bream in Europe for both domestic consumption and export. The Hellenic Center for Marine Research has been a partner with the U.S. soybean industry in evaluating soy diets for sea bass and sea bream.

The majority of USB - and USSEC-funded studies to develop and assess soy-based diets for European sea bass and gilthead sea bream have been conducted at the aquaculture research center in Cadiz, Spain. Spain is a producer of sea bass and bream in ocean cages and land-based ponds.
